Introduction:

The archeological cause is an important part of the cultural relics protection. During the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, under the leadership of the Xuzhou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, and under the guidance of the Jiangsu Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau, Xuzhou Archaeology adhered to the cultural relics protection work policy, strictly implemented archeological work procedures, and protected cultural relics in capital construction projects. As a key point, fruitful results have been achieved, and the archaeological cause of the city has shown good development momentum.

During the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, with the full implementation of the "Field Archaeological Working Rules" of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage and related laws and regulations such as the "Budget Measures", Xuzhou archaeology and the preparation and use of budgets are more scientific and standardized, and archaeological work efficiency has been significantly improved. Over the past five years, archeologists have completed a series of excavations of important sites and tombs with high quality, especially those involved in the investigation and excavation of large-scale infrastructure archeological projects such as South-to-North Water Diversion, Taidong River, Zhengxu Passenger Dedicated Line, and the protection of cultural relics in Xuzhou's basic construction rescued and unearthed a large number of important ancient sites and tombs. The important discoveries of the Woniushan Tomb Group further clarified the corresponding relationship between the tombs of King Chu of the Western Han Dynasty in Xuzhou; the eastern wall of Pengcheng, the capital of the Western Han Dynasty, found at Suning Square, identified the location of Pengcheng for the first time from archeological data, which is important for Xuzhou Han archaeology meaning; the concept of "opening while digging" in Tushan No. 2 Tomb realizes the archaeological site entered the public view and unveiled the mystery of archeological work. The excavations of a group of tombs in the Han Dynasty revealed the layout of cemeteries and funeral customs of Han Dynasty, which enriched Xuzhou Han culture. The Ming tomb on Longtoushan, Suining, was first discovered in Xuzhou, showing brick carving, painting and preservation of the complete tomb structure of Ming Dynasty. These new discoveries and development will cause further academic research, provide a solid theoretical foundation and a physical carrier for promoting Xuzhou's historical culture, and provide a basis for scientifically formulating Xuzhou's "Thirteenth Five-Year" cultural relics protection and development plan. According to statistics, during the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, a total of 48 archaeological tasks were completed, including 14 archaeological surveys and explorations, 34 archeological excavations, a total of nearly 8,000 square meters of excavated sites, 327 tombs, and more than 4,000 cultural relics unearthed.

In recent years, the combination of rescue archaeological excavations with the exploration of regional civilization, the combination of archaeological work with the protection of cultural heritage, and the integration of cultural relics with the overall social development have become the philosophy and basic requirements of Xuzhou archeological work. It has become the norm to establish a sense of subject, protection and service in work.

The construction of archeological institutions and talents also made breakthroughs during the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period. The listing of the "Xuzhou Municipal Bureau of Cultural Relics" not only strengthens the leadership of the city's cultural relics and archeological work, but also facilitates the external communication and exchange of it. The Xuzhou Museum has obtained the archaeological excavation qualification certificate issued by the State Administration of Cultural Relics, and the brand of the "Xuzhou Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology", demonstrating the enhancement of the archaeological strength of Xuzhou and the popularity of the archeological team of Xuzhou.

In order to fully display the new archaeological achievements of Xuzhou during the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, and to highlight Xuzhou's rich underground cultural resources and profound historical and cultural heritage, the Xuzhou Cultural Relics Bureau and Xuzhou Museum (Xuzhou Cultural Relics and Archaeology Institute) organized the "Trace-Twelfth Five-Year Xuzhou Archaeological Achievements Exhibition based on this compilation Trace-Twelfth Five-Year Xuzhou Archaeology. The book is based on archeological excavation projects and introduces more than 10 representative excavations. It is hoped that the publication of this book will further realize the social sharing of cultural heritage protection achievements and promote the awareness of the protection of the cultural heritage of people.
