Introduction of cultural relics

Xu Gu (1823-1896), a monk whose family name was Zhu and given name was Huairen, and alias was Juanhe, had his place of origin in Xin'an (today's Xi County, Anhui), and residence in Guangling (today's Yangzhou, Jiangsu). His painting inherits the styles of Jian Jiang and Cheng Sui of Xin'an Painting School, which traces back to the Song and Yuan Dynasties, and is also influenced by Hua Xinluo. This square screen of landscape painting album represents bold, steady use of brush, clear, elegant color design, and cool, fresh artistic style, where a peaceful nature of Zen is faintly visible.
