After careful preparation, the social service department of Xuzhou museum organized "Friends of Xuzhou Museum Association" to visit the Mangdangshan Han tombs by bus last Sunday.

The Mangdangshan Han tombs are the tombs of Liu wu (the son of the Emperor Wen of the Han) and his family. The tombs are located on every top of the mountain except the main peak. The tombs are consistent of Liangxiao king tomb, queen Liangxiao tomb, Lianggong king tomb, Xishan Stone Relief of Han dynasty tomb and others. The structure of the tomb is complex and magnificent, and just like a huge underground palace,so now the tomb is regarded as the national key cultural relic protection unit.

With great interest, the members visited Liangxiao king tomb, queen Liangxiao tomb and Lianggong king tomb. The tombs cut through mountain for outline and store, which shows a grand scale. Its internal structure was built in accordance with the layout of the royal palace of the Han dynasty, which was very rare in terms of the magnitude of the project, the unique structure, the symmetry of the layout and the delicacy of the production. Moreover, the frescoes of the four gods painted  on the top of the Lianggong king tomb have attracted people's attention. The frescoes, with Azure Dragon, White Tiger and Vermilion Bird as the theme pattern, were decorated with wreathing clouds and ribbons through the walls. After more than two thousand years, the frescoes were still colorful, and were evaluated as "Great Before Dunhuang" and "Great as if Dunhuang" by experts and scholars.

Just a few hours' visit makes people full of praise and enthusiasm. This activity was recognized by the Friends of Museum Association and the following activities will also be carried out regularly, making it a good platform for Xuzhou museum to contact the public.
